Boys Baseball 1998

The Branford 1998 Class L State Champion baseball team finished ranked #1 in the state and #3 in New England. This was Branford’s first state baseball championship in the history of the school. They finished the year with a 23-3 record and won the SCC Hammonassett Division. They were runners-up in the SCC tournament.
Entering the Class L tournament as the 2 seed they cruised by all of their opponents outscoring them by a total of 40 to 3, while winning the state final at Palmer Field against Law 4 to 1. The pitching staff struck out 40 batters in 26 innings during the state title run. Branford’s 3 main pitchers all boosted era’s of less than 1 and had a combined record of 21-2.
