David Marsh

His mission throughout life was simple – help the neighbor who needs us, consider their feelings, and be tolerant above all things.  2001 Branford Sports Hall of Famer inductee David Marsh supported this message in his roles as a two-sport athlete, a scholar and a career man.

David attended Branford High School from 1945 to 1948,  where he was a member of the Hornets’ baseball team as a left fielder and team captain in his senior season.  During his baseball career at Branford, “Dave” was a teammate of fellow Hall of Fame inductees Joe Chandler (’90), Bill Mischler (’93), Jim Murphy (’95), Dick Jackson (’97), Ken Erickson (’97) Vincent Casanova (’98), Charlie Lake (’99), David Clark (’00), Mel Bigelow (’01),  and Bob Vishno (’01), and played for head coach, Warren Sampson (’92).  With his overall batting average hovering around .365, “Dave” was an important cog to the 1945 Housatonic League Runner-up team.  Branford won seven of its first eight games en route to its second place finish.
