Besides playing three sports in his senior year, Gordon acted as Class President. The football squad relished a 3-2-1 record and the basketball team concluded its season with a 13-6 record and a trip to the semifinals of the C.I.A.C. state tournament. Upon graduating from Branford in 1953, Gordon attended Central State University in Xenia, Ohio, where he pitched on the baseball team and was involved in various college clubs before graduating in 1958 and playing semi-pro ball in Piqua, Ohio that same year. “Butch” as he is known to many, served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 as First Lieutenant Quartermaster Corp in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He resided in the Washington D.C./Maryland area for 31 years and served as teacher, assistant principal and principal within the elementary and junior high school systems.
